About Us

Hey Business Bestie! I am Takia, Founder of So You Want to Pitch. In 2013, I started my entrepreneurial journey in the kitchen of my home providing make-up artistry services to busy moms just like me! I didn’t know, at the time, that I was starting a “business”. I just thought that I was creating a way to bring additional revenue into my home so that I could take care of my children.

Needless to say, two years into what I thought was my “side hustle” I realized that I really had something special and I wanted it to grow, but I didn’t have the money, credit, or knowledge to do so. Realizing that going to a bank for a business loan wasn’t in the cards for me at this time, I went on a hunt for ways to fund my business idea. This led me to Business Plan and Business Pitch competitions and over the course of the next 5 years I had won over 100,000 in cash and prizes. Of course, I took my Business Besties along for the journey and between the messages congratulating me on my wins, there were also inquiries about how other could go about funding their businesses in this way too.

What started as a workbook to share what I had learned over the course of 5 years pitching my business in Business Plan and Business Pitch Competitions, transformed into a full-day conference, workshops, and now this website which will be a resource hub for all of my Business Besties to obtain the knowledge, tools, and resources they need to plan for, prepare to, and PITCH their businesses for capital, customers, and collaborators!

We’re excited to have you along for the journey!

Takia

Our mission is to provide the resources businesses need to plan for, prepare to, and PITCH their businesses for capital, customers, and collaborators.

“Takia served as my mentor and pitch coach. She assisted me in perfecting my pitch and tailored my presentation to include stats and data that the audience easily related to. Her help was integral in helping me to win$10,000.”
